SAILOR FOR LIFE provides retirees with new opportunities to continue supporting the fleet. One way to give back is by assisting the Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) (formerly Navy Recruiting Command) by teaming up with recruiters for high school visits and Delayed Entry Program meetings to share how the Navy positively impacted your life.

Retirees are encouraged to volunteer to support NTAG outreach efforts, especially at large-scale events like state fairs. In the past, the NTAG Public Affairs Officer has successfully collaborated with the Navy League, USNA Blue &Gold officers, and Navy retiree organizations for booth setups and community engagement.

Beyond these events, individuals can help by spreading awareness through word of mouth, sharing positive experiences about military service, and volunteering at locations like youth centers, homeless shelters, and food banks—places where the Navy can be promoted as a path to a better future.

Veterans with families can also make an impact by getting involved in local schools and after-school programs, further strengthening community ties.
